North Zone Inter University Kho-Kho Women tournament

On 5th September to 8th December 2024, Lovely Professional University hosted the North Zone Inter University Kho-Kho Women tournament at the Shanti Devi Mittal Indoor Sports Complex, opposite Faculty Apartment Block 41C. The event was organized by the Division of Sports, Student Welfare Wing and witnessed the participation of 472 athletes from various universities. The tournament was graced by Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal, as the eminent guest. This prestigious event provided a platform to showcase talent, promote sportsmanship, and encourage the spirit of competitive sports among women athletes at the university and national level.

10th Divyang Indian Cricket League

On 13th to 17th November 2024, Lovely Professional University hosted the 10th Divyang Indian Cricket League at the LPU Playgrounds, near Boys’ Hostel 1. The event was organized by the Division of Sports, Student Welfare Wing and witnessed the participation of 145 athletes. The league was graced by Dr. Aman Mittal, Vice President of LPU, Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta, Pro Vice Chancellor of LPU, and Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal, Professor and Senior Dean, LPU, as eminent guests. This inclusive sporting event provided a platform for differently-abled athletes to showcase their talent, promote sportsmanship, and encourage competitive spirit.

Shri Ashok Jain Memorial Badminton Tournament

From 4th to 6th October 2024, Lovely Professional University hosted the Shri Ashok Jain Memorial Badminton Tournament as part of its shared sports facility initiative. The event was organized by the Division of Sports, Student Welfare Wing and saw the participation of 100 players. The tournament was graced by Mr. Som Prakash, former Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar, as the eminent guest. This event provided a platform for athletes to showcase their talent, foster sportsmanship, and promote competitive badminton within the university community.

3rd India Para Open National Championship

On 9th to 10th November 2024, Lovely Professional University hosted the 3rd India Para Open National Championship at the Shanti Devi Mittal Indoor Sports Complex, opposite Faculty Apartment Block 41C. The event was organized by the Division of Sports, Student Welfare Wing and witnessed the participation of 130 athletes. The championship was graced by Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal, Professor and Senior Dean, LPU, and Miss Veena Arora, General Secretary of the Punjab Taekwondo Association and Vice President of India Taekwondo, as eminent guests. The event provided a platform to promote para-sports, showcase talent, and encourage inclusivity and competitive spirit among differently-abled athletes.

KVS National Boxing, Handball (Men)

On 10th to 14th September 2024, Lovely Professional University hosted the KVS National Boxing and Handball (Men) tournaments at the LPU Playgrounds, near Boys’ Hostel 4. The events were organized by the Division of Sports, Student Welfare Wing and saw the participation of 800 athletes from various regions. The tournaments were graced by Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal, Professor and Senior Dean, LPU, as the eminent guest. These competitions provided a platform for athletes to demonstrate their skills, promote sportsmanship, and encourage competitive spirit at the national level.

Transgender Cricket Tournament

Teams from all over India came to compete in this historic event, showcasing their talent and passion for the sport. It was a beautiful sight to see individuals from the trans community coming together to celebrate their love for cricket and break barriers in the process. LPU honored to have the incredible Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, a renowned transgender activist and artist, as chief guest for the tournament. North Zone Inter University Hockey Men

LPU hosted North Zone Inter University Hockey Men championship in which 31 universities with 534 players of the zone have participated and Lovely Professional University (LPU) has lifted the North-Zone Inter-University Hockey (Men) Championship-2022-23. Click here for more information.

Qazaq Kures National Championship 2023

The Qazaq Kures National Championship 2023 officially kicked off, and we were thrilled to co-host this prestigious event with the Qazaq Kures Association of India. Athletes from all corners of the nation descended upon Lovely Professional University to showcase their skills and compete for the ultimate prize.

For those unfamiliar with Qazaq Kures, it is a traditional martial art that originated in Kazakhstan and is widely practiced throughout Central Asia. It involves two competitors wrestling each other while wearing special belts, with the goal being to throw the opponent to the ground and pin them for three seconds.

We were honored to play a part in promoting this unique and ancient sport and to provide a platform for these talented athletes to showcase their abilities. The energy and excitement were palpable, and we witnessed incredible performances throughout the event.Click here for more information
