‘NARI – Her Right Her Pride’

That's an incredible achievement and a commendable initiative by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab, India. The Project ‘Nari Her Right, Her Pride’ not only set a record for the longest line of sanitary pads but also had a significant social impact by promoting menstrual hygiene and challenging social stigmas related to menstruation. LPU runs various initiatives under the umbrella of this Project.

Sexual and reproductive health care services for students and staff at lpu Lovely Professional University (LPU) is committed to the holistic well-being of its students, faculty, and staff, which includes offering comprehensive healthcare services, including access to specialized medical professionals. This includes a gynecologist consultation for sexual and reproductive health services, ensuring that students, staff, and the community have access to professional care related to sexual health, reproductive issues, and overall well-being. NARI – Her Right Her Pride - NSS Project - NSS project- Sanitary Pad Distribution Drive and Awareness Programme
The NARI – Her Right Her Pride - NSS Project - NSS Project organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Lovely Professional University on 26th October 2024 in Phagwara aimed to empower women and promote gender equality. A total of 18 volunteers actively participated in this initiative, which focused on raising awareness about women’s rights, health, safety, and social inclusion. The event encouraged discussions on gender sensitization and women’s empowerment as essential elements of national progress. Through this impactful outreach, LPU-NSS reinforced its dedication to building an equitable society where women are respected, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Sanitary Pad Distribution Drive at Adopted villages
On 11th October 2024, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Lovely Professional University organized a Sanitary Pad Distribution Drive at Village Chachowal, one of its adopted villages. A total of 98 volunteers and participants took part in the initiative aimed at promoting menstrual hygiene and ensuring access to essential sanitary products for women and girls. Volunteers also conducted awareness sessions on safe hygiene practices and proper disposal methods. The drive emphasized the importance of health, dignity, and confidence among women. Through this effort, LPU reaffirmed its commitment to women’s well-being and community welfare.

NARI: Her Right, Her Pride
LPU-NSS Units PRAVAH and PARAV successfully organized the ‘NARI: Her Right, Her Pride’ initiative, distributing sanitary pads to the women of Mehtan village on 29th October 2024. This initiative aimed to promote menstrual hygiene awareness and empower women with essential healthcare resources. By breaking taboos and fostering education, we take a step towards a healthier and more empowered society.

Empowering Women Through Menstrual Health Awareness
On 28th September, 2024 (Sunday), LPU-NSS took a meaningful step toward improving women’s health through its initiative, “NARI – Her Right, Her Pride.” As part of this drive, sanitary pads were distributed to the incredible women of Chachowal village, alongside an awareness session on menstrual hygiene, proper usage of sanitary pads, and their health benefits. It was truly inspiring to witness their enthusiasm to learn and adopt healthier practices.

Nari ‘Her Right Her Pride’ Sanitary Napkin Jagrukta Abhiyan on Women Day.
The NARI Awareness Session, organized by LPU-NSS, aimed to raise awareness about women’s issues and empowerment in the adopted villages. Held on 8th March 2024, the event saw active participation from 45 volunteers. Conducted in LPU as well as in nearby adopted villages, sanitary napkins were distributed to the females of nearby adopted village. The session focused on gender equality, women’s rights, and social empowerment. LPU-NSS collaborated with local authorities and NGOs like Hindustan Welfare Blood Donor Club to maximize outreach and impact.

'Nari-her right her pride' – 30th April -2023 LPU-NSS organized an event 'Nari-her right her pride' in which our volunteers distributed sanitary pads in slum areas near Rama Mandi. The aim was to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and provide essential sanitary products to underprivileged women. International Conference on Feminine Hygiene Management Beyond Taboo (ICFHM-2022) - Under the Technical Guidance of UNICEF
LPU organised ICFHM conference aims at providing a leading forum for sharing original research contributions and practical developments in the field of Feminine hygiene Management. The main objective of the conference is to provide a unique platform to facilitate the scientists, researchers, academicians, industrialists, students, physicians, nurses, psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists, women’s and gender studies scholars, communications studies scholars, artists, literary and cultural critics, health educators, and menstrual activists to share their research instincts.

26,001 Sanitary Pad Distributions
It's heartwarming to hear that over 300 LPU NSS volunteers actively participated in this project, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in addressing crucial issues like menstrual hygiene. The expanse of 3,256 meters covered by 26,001 sanitary pads represents a powerful symbol of solidarity and support for women's health and well-being.

In honor of International Women's Day, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, LPU, embarked on a profound journey to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene, breast cancer, and women's education. Our students and faculty members passionately shared their knowledge and insights in various government schools across Punjab. This drive was further complemented by the distribution of free sanitary napkins to the attendees, exemplifying our commitment to empowering and supporting women's well-being in the community.

Celebrating Menstrual Hygiene day on 28th May 2022
In order to educate the young minds about menstruation hygiene and health, LPU every year celebrates menstrual hygiene day, LPU and its collaborations work all year round to raise awareness about the challenges regarding access to menstrual products, education about menstruation and period-friendly sanitation facilities. Volunteers of LPU-NSS visited various schools and colonies across Punjab and distributed sanitary pads among the needy. Menstruation onset are a critical stage in any teenage girl's life. They require specific caution and appropriate awareness.

Gender Justice and Equal Protection
Lovely Professional University is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion with intent to create an environment in which all members of our community are able to realize their full potential. On March 2021 LPU hosted a webinar “Gender Justice and Equal Protection”. Adv. Shobha day was the resource person (Advocate on record Supreme Court of India). Being a member of the legal fraternity she discussed in detail the ways through which one can fight gender discrimination and raise voice in the society.

SAKSHAM-Women Safety at Workplace
Sexual harassment is considered as a violation of the fundamental right of a woman to equality. Hence, LPU conducted a Webinar “SAKSHAM- Women Safety at Workplace” in a view to spread awareness about the safety of woman at workplace, to let working persons know the definition of safety at workplace and make organizations and campuses adopt measures for safety of women employees & students at workplace.

Raksha – Self Defense program
Raksha" an initiative under Project "Naari" in Govt Senior Sec School, Khajurla in which the instructors of " Women Safe Nation Safe " , Jalandhar taught the girls some basic and impactful self-defense moves by which they can easily take down their opponent in case of any mishap and protect themselves harmlessly.

Women Empowerment Summit 2021- Online subbmit
LPU organized women empowerment summit on 17th April 2021. Mrs. Mamta Sachdeva, proverbial Indian YouTube personality based in UAE with over a million subscribers, Ex-Cabin Manager, and Safety & Emergency Procedures (SEP) instructor at Etihad Airways with over 14 years of experience in the Aviation & Hospitality Industry, She elaborated on how she overcame financial hiccups, despite fearing cessation of education, living under the fear of marriage, and how she overcame everything to become the enlivening women.

Ms. Ira Singhal, acclaimed Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer, Brand Ambassador of the Department of Disability, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Ministry of Women & Child Development, and the NITI Aayog. She narrated her life chronicles, the swedges she had to face to get admission into different schools despite being exceptionally brilliant in academics.

PAAVNI- Menstruation Awareness Program
On 10th December 2021 LPU set up a menstruation Awareness camp which was attended by the students of the university, NCC, Housekeeping staff, faculty and people from the rural areas The key objective of this campaign was increase awareness among adolescent girls on Menstrual Hygiene and increase access to and use of high quality sanitary napkins to adolescent girls in rural areas. 20,000+ sanitary pads were distributed in collaboration with a feminine hygiene product company “NIINE”.
