Awareness Rally on World Wetland Day
On 2 February 2024, the School of Agriculture, organized an Awareness Rally on World Wetland Day, engaging 78 participants. Led by Dr. Neeraj Singh Parihar, As- sistant Professor at LPU, the event aimed to raise awareness about the ecolog- ical significance of wetlands and their sustainable use. Through activity-based engagement, a rally, and poster presentations, it educated and inspired partici- pants to contribute to wetland preservation and generated ideas for their con- servation, promoting biodiversity and sustainable ecosystem management.
Workshop on Emerging Technologies in Quarantine and Detection for Sustainable Plant Health
On 25 November 2024, the School of Agriculture at Lovely Professional University conducted an online workshop via Google Meet on “Emerging Technologies in Quarantine and Detection for Sustainable Plant Health,” attracting 37 participants. Led by Dr. Celia Chalam Vasimalla, Head of the Division of Plant Quarantine at NBPGR, the workshop addressed threats from plant pests, pathogens, and invasive species to global food security and biodiversity. It explored cutting-edge tools and methodologies for rapid detection, accurate diagnosis, and effective quarantine measures, aligning with SDG 15: Life on Land to promote sustain- able plant health practices and enhance agricultural resilience.
Tree Plantation Drive - LPU Alumni Association Patna Chapter
On 22 September 2024, the Division of Alumni Relations - Patna Chapter organized a Tree Plantation Drive at Shadibazar Events, Govind Pur, Laheriasarai, Darbhanga, Bihar, led by Aman Kumar, a Class of 2020 B.Tech ECE alumnus and Treasurer of the Patna Chapter. The event united alumni in a mission to safe- guard the planet, emphasizing collective action for environmental sustainabil- ity. By planting trees, it aimed to increase green cover, support biodiversity, and foster a sustainable future through community collaboration.
Tree Plantation Drive - LPU Alumni Association Delhi NCR Noida Chapter - Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam
On 1 December 2024, the Division of Alumni Relations, in collaboration with the LPU Alumni Association Delhi NCR Noida Chapter, organized a Tree Planta- tion Drive titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” at A Block, Pocket A, Sector 19, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with 29 participants. The event honored the nurturing essence of mothers and Mother Nature through tree planting, aiming to increase green cover, support biodiversity, and encourage sustainable environmental practices through alumni collaboration.
Cleanliness and Awareness drive at Phagwara Railway Station
On 28 Sept 2024,LPU-NSS volunteers from Lovely Professional University (LPU) took part in a cleanliness drive at Phagwara Railway Station. The initiative aimed at promoting the importance of maintaining a clean environment in public spaces, highlighting the need for cleanliness in everyday life. Workshop and Rally on Swachhta Progrrmme (Cleanliness Drive)
On 29th March 2024, LPU-NSS organized a One-Day Workshop and Rally on Swachhta Programme. The event was conducted at Lovely Professional University and its adopted villages. A total of 100 volunteers and participants actively took part in the activities. The programme focused on spreading awareness about cleanliness and sanitation. It also included sessions on civic responsibility. The initiative encouraged both community engagement and sustainable practices in urban and rural areas.
Swachhta Hi Sewa - Cleanliness Drive & Awareness Rally in Village Salarpur
On 14th September 2023, LPU-NSS organized the "Swachhta Hi Sewa" initiative at Salarpur village. The event emphasized cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainable practices to improve village surroundings. A total of 49 volunteers and participants, including community members, actively joined the campaign. It created strong community engagement by encouraging villagers to take ownership of their environment.
Guest lecture on Hymenopterans: Role in Achieving Agricultural Sustainability
On March 29, 2023, the School of Agriculture at LPU organized an online guest lecture titled “Hymenopterans: Role in Achieving Agricultural Sustainability,” delivered by Dr. Omprakash Navik, a Scientist at the ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (NBAII) in Bengaluru. The event attracted more than 100 participants from local/ national community and highlighted the significant contributions of Hymenopterans, a diverse group of insects that includes honeybees, ants, and wasps, to agricultural sustainability.Dr. Navik explained the distinctive characteristics of Hymenoptera, such as their narrow "waist" and two membranous wings that can hook together when in flight. He discussed the importance of their well-developed ovipositors, which in higher forms are modified into stingers, allowing certain species to defend themselves. By emphasizing the ecological and economic benefits provided by Hymenopterans, the lecture underscored their crucial role in pollination, pest control, and overall agricultural health.
Guest Lecture on Mycorrhizae in Agriculture: Isolation and Production
The School of Agriculture at LPU hosted a guest lecture titled "Mycorrhizae in Agriculture: Isolation and Production" aimed at raising awareness among the local and national community about the importance of mycorrhizal fungi in sustainable agricultural practices. This informative session focused on the role of mycorrhizae in enhancing soil health, nutrient uptake, and plant growth, thereby promoting sustainable farming techniques. Participants learned about the methods for isolating and producing mycorrhizal fungi to improve crop yields and resilience against environmental stresses. By educating attendees on the benefits of incorporating mycorrhizae into agricultural systems, the lecture emphasized the potential for these beneficial fungi to contribute to sustainable agriculture and food security.Guest lecture on “Overview of Sericulture and its future aspects
Lovely Professional University organized an awareness program for local farmers on sericulture and its future prospects. The initiative aimed to educate farmers about the benefits of sericulture as a sustainable agricultural practice, highlighting its potential to enhance livelihoods through silk production. Experts discussed the economic advantages, modern techniques, and future opportunities in sericulture, encouraging farmers to adopt this eco-friendly practice to diversify their income sources while contributing to rural development.
Parthenium Awareness week
Department of Agronomy, School of Agriculture conducted an event named “Parthenium Awareness week”. Parthenium is poisonous, pernicious problematic, allergic and aggressive weed posing a serious threat to human beings and animals, so, it needs proper management. The focus of the event was to spread awareness amongst the farmers, local people and students about one of the most notorious weeds Parthenium. Campaigning in the nearby villages adopted by LPU was scheduled to educate the farmers about various methods of controlling the weed. Bee Keeping Unit
Lovely Professional University established a Bee Keeping Unit to provide training for students and local farmers. This initiative aims to educate participants about the importance of beekeeping as a sustainable agricultural practice, highlighting its benefits for pollination and honey production. Through hands-on training and workshops, the unit equips students and farmers with essential skills and knowledge, promoting beekeeping as a viable source of income while fostering environmental conservation and biodiversity in the region.

Apart from this LPU annually celebrates World bee day to raise awareness about the vital role bees play in biodiversity and food security. The event features engaging activities, including workshops and seminars, focusing on bee conservation and the challenges these pollinators face. By promoting bee-friendly practices and promoting environmental stewardship, LPU aims to inspire its community to protect these essential creatures and support sustainable development.
