World Soil Day
On 5 December 2024, the School of Agriculture at Lovely Professional University, celebrated World Soil Day at the 57 Corridor, themed “Sustaining Life Beneath Our Feet: Celebrating the Power of Soil.” Led by Mr. Sanjay Singh, the event engaged students and faculty through a guest lecture, poster and model/project displays, a revenue-based stall, a Play with Clay Competition, and an exhibition. Aligned with SDG 15: Life on Land, it high- lighted soil’s role in food security, clean water, climate change mitigation, and biodiversity conservation, fostering sustainable land use practices.
Guest Lecture on Advanced Wastewater Treatment
On 26 October 2024, the School of Civil Engineering at Lovely Professional University organized a guest lecture on “Advanced Wastewater Treatment,” delivered by Er. Sourabh Manuja, Waste Management Advisor at GIZ-India. Attended by students, the session highlighted modern treatment techniques like mem- brane bioreactors (MBR), sequencing batch reactors (SBR), anaerobic digestion, and phytoremediation. It emphasized sustainable water reuse, pollution reduction, and policy frameworks, inspiring students to contribute to climate resilience and urban sustainability through innovative civil engineering solutions.
Tree Plantation Drive - LPU Alumni Association Delhi NCR Noida Chapter - Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam
On 1 December 2024, the Division of Alumni Relations, in collaboration with the LPU Alumni Association Delhi NCR Noida Chapter, organized a Tree Plantation Drive titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” at A Block, Pocket A, Sector 19, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with 29 participants. The event honored the nurturing essence of mothers and Mother Nature through tree planting, aiming to increase green cover, support biodiversity, and encourage sustainable environmental practices through alumni collaboration.
Workshop on Biodiversity Conservation and Re- Generative Farming
From 6 to 9 November 2024, the School of Agriculture at Lovely Professional University organized a workshop on “Biodiversity Conservation and Regenerative Farming” attracting 60 participants. The event delved into strategies for preserving biodiversity while advancing regenerative farming methods to restore ecosystems and promote soil vitality. Through expert-led sessions, hands-on activities, and collaborative discussions, attendees explored innovative techniques to enhance ecosystem resilience and support wildlife habitats, addressing deforestation, habitat loss, and land degradation.
Guest Lecture on Sustainable Tourism Indicators and Sustainable Development Goals
On 26 February 2024, the School of Hotel Management and Tourism at Lovely Professional University organized a guest lecture on “Sustainable Tourism Indicators and Sustainable Development Goals,” attended by 80 participants. Delivered by Siamak Seyfi, Assistant Professor from the University of Oulu, Finland, the lecture explored the interplay between sustainable tourism indicators and SDGs, such as poverty alleviation, environmental stewardship, and cultural preservation. Through vibrant discussions, it inspired students to appreciate sustainable tourism’s role in shaping a resilient and equitable global future.
5th International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals and Tourism
The 5th International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals and Tourism (SDGT-2024), themed Embracing People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace & Partnership, was held from February 27 to March 1, 2024 at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Phagwara, in a hybrid mode. Organized by the School of Hotel Management and Tourism, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Walia, Professor and Associate Dean, the event collaborated with esteemed organizations such as Western Sydney University, Critical Studies Association Asia Pacific, ATLAS (Association for Tourism and Leisure Education and Research), and the IGU Commission of Tourism and Leisure.
Awareness Session on World Pulses Day
On 12th February 2024, LPU-NSS in collaboration with the School of Agriculture organized an Awareness Session on World Pulses Day at Lovely Professional University. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 355 volunteers and participants, including students, faculty, and community members. Various awareness sessions were conducted, focusing on the importance of pulses in nutrition, sustainable agriculture, and food security. Experts shared valuable insights on the role of pulses in promoting healthy diets and sustainable food systems. Additionally, engaging activities such as participation registration and a vibrant Rangoli competition added to the event’s success.
Awareness Rally on World Wetland Day
On 2 February 2024, the School of Agriculture organized an Awareness Rally on World Wetland Day at Block 57A-502, engaging 78 participants. Led by Dr. Neeraj Singh Parihar, Assistant Professor at LPU, the event aimed to raise awareness about the ecological significance of wetlands and their sustainable use. Through activity-based engagement, a rally, and poster presentations, it educated and inspired participants to contribute to wetland preservation and generated ideas for their conservation, promoting biodiversity and sustainable ecosystem management.
Celebrating World Earth Day
On 22 April 2024, the School of Education at Lovely Professional University celebrated World Earth Day at LPU. The initiative focused on raising awareness about environmental conservation, aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Students launched a pledge campaign to save the Earth, environment, and humanity, preparing posters with space for signatures. They visited various campus schools, including Computer Science, Management, Law, Creative and Liberal Arts, Journalism, and Social Sciences, to engage faculty and students in conversations and collect signatures, inspiring collective action for environmental sustainability.
Plantation Drive in Adopted Villages (Chaheru and Khajurla)
On 30 April 2024, LPU-NSS organized a Plantation Drive in the adopted villages of Chaheru and Khajurla, involving 35 volunteers. The community project focused on planting trees and raising awareness among locals about land and resource conservation. It aimed to enhance green cover, promote biodiversity, and foster sustainable ecosystem management. By engaging villagers in tree planting and educational efforts, the drive sought to create a lasting impact on the local environment and cultivate a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

Guest Lecture on Agroforestry Strategies in Northern India with special reference to Punjab
On 4th November 2022, the Department of Horticulture, School of Agriculture, organized an offline guest lecture on "Agroforestry Strategies in Northern India with Special Reference to Punjab" for first-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students. The lecture was conducted in room 57A:502 and saw the participation of 736 students. Dr. K.S. Bangarwa, an Ex-Emeritus Professor and former Head of the Department of Forestry at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, was the resource person. During the session, Dr. Bangarwa shared his extensive knowledge and expertise on various aspects of forestry and agroforestry, focusing on species that are particularly suitable for Punjab. His talk provided valuable insights into agroforestry strategies that can be effectively implemented in Northern India, helping students understand the importance of integrating trees into agricultural systems for improved sustainability and productivity. The resource person emphasized the fundamentals of sustainable living and the ethics of life, along with practical methods and techniques to adopt a sustainable lifestyle. The event aimed to translate the vision of LiFE into tangible impacts and promote awareness among students to actively participate in environmental conservation. The Department of Horticulture, School of Agriculture, Lovely Professional University, successfully organized a guest lecture on the physiological aspects of plant growth and development on 30th October 2023. The lecture, delivered by Dr. Bhupendra Mathpal, Associate Professor in the Department of Agronomy, was held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and saw the participation of 18 students. The primary objectives of the event were to provide a detailed study of the physiological aspects of flowering, fruit set, fruit development, and ripening in vegetable crops, as well as to explore the physiological processes involved in dormancy and germination of vegetable seeds. Through this insightful session, students gained a deeper understanding of the critical factors influencing plant growth and the developmental stages of vegetable crops.
Production technology of important medicinal plants (Ashwagandha, Isabgol, Periwinkle and lemongrass)
On 12th April 2023, the School of Agriculture organized a guest lecture on the topic "Production Technology of Important Medicinal Plants". The event was conducted online in rooms 56-509 and 56-705 and was attended by 92 participants. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Aruna Mehta, a Scientist at CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, Palampur. The primary objective of the event was to raise awareness among students about the production technology of significant medicinal plants. Through this session, students gained valuable insights into the cultivation practices and techniques required for the successful production of medicinal plants, which play a vital role in the field of natural health and wellness. The lecture was a key opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge in this specialized area of agriculture.
Conservation Agriculture and weed management in cropping systems
The School of Agriculture, Department of Agronomy, organized an online guest lecture on "Conservation Agriculture and Weed Management in Cropping Systems" on 1st December 2022 via the My Class Platform. The lecture was delivered by Dr. T. K. Das, Professor and Principal Scientist at the Division of Agronomy, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. Dr. Das, with vast experience in weed science, including a tenure as Associate Professor at Alemaya University, Ethiopia, under a World Bank-funded project, shared valuable insights with 146 participants. Dr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, GADVASU, discussed the crucial relationship between soil and plant health, emphasizing that healthy soil is essential for optimal crop growth and development. He highlighted the importance of an integrated approach to enhance soil health, focusing on moisture retention and nutrient balance to ensure sustainable agricultural practices and long-term productivity.

Plantation on Earth Day
The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Lovely Professional University organized a plantation drive from 20th to 24th April 2023, in celebration of Earth Day. Held at Phagwara, Punjab, the event saw the active participation of 100 volunteers, who planted a variety of saplings to contribute to environmental conservation. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of afforestation and foster a sense of responsibility toward protecting the planet.
Rally on Earth Day
On 25th April 2023, LPU's National Cadet Corps (NCC) organized a vibrant rally in honor of Earth Day, engaging 125 dedicated volunteers and participants. The rally, held at Lovely Professional University, Kapurthala, Punjab, served as a dynamic platform to spread awareness about the urgent need for environmental conservation. Cadets and volunteers marched across the campus with banners and slogans, inspiring the university community to adopt sustainable practices and care for the Earth. This event underscored the NCC's commitment to environmental stewardship and its role in promoting eco-friendly initiatives.
Planet Power Play
The Student Organization Tachyons, in collaboration with Nivy Care Foundation (NGO), organized the "Planet Power Play" on 5th May 2023 across multiple locations—Lucknow, Phagwara, Guwahati, and Jalandhar. This impactful event brought together 80 enthusiastic volunteers who championed environmental sustainability through creative activities and community engagement. By addressing pressing ecological issues, "Planet Power Play" aimed to inspire local communities in these cities to take concrete actions for protecting the planet, highlighting the importance of collective effort in safeguarding the environment for future generations.

The Pradyut Foundation, a student organization, held a Plantation Drive aimed at promoting environmental conservation. The event took place at Chaheru village ground, where 20 dedicated volunteers planted trees and raised awareness about eco-friendly practices.
