Publication ethics and malpractice statement for IC-BIOSUSTAIN 2026
Publication Ethics and Malpractice StatementThe International Conference on Biological Innovations for Sustainable Development (IC-BIOSUSTAIN 2026), organised by the School of Bioengineering and Biosciences, Lovely Professional University, is committed to the highest standards of ethical integrity in scholarly publishing. The conference brings together academicians, researchers, scientists, industry professionals and policymakers to discuss biological innovations for sustainable development, and expects authors, reviewers and editors alike to uphold the principles below.
Authors and Their ResponsibilitiesSubmitted papers must be original, unpublished work written in English. A paper must not have been published before, and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal, proceedings volume or conference. All authors named on a paper must have made a substantial contribution to the work and share responsibility and accountability for its results.
Authors whose abstracts have been accepted may be invited to submit full-length manuscripts. Acceptance of an abstract does not guarantee publication of the full paper.
Full-length manuscripts are submitted by email to icbiosustain@lpu.co.in, following the submission instructions in the Author Guidelines. A confirmation will be sent to the corresponding author on receipt.
Manuscript Formatting Requirements
Manuscripts should be in English and approximately 4,000 to 7,000 words, excluding references, tables and figure legends. The recommended structure is Title, Author Information, Abstract (about 150 to 250 words), Keywords (four to six), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, Funding, Author Contributions, Conflict of Interest, Data Availability, Ethics Statement and References.
Every manuscript must include:Every reference cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and every entry in the list must be cited in the text. Verify author names, titles, journal details, year, volume, pages and DOI, and include the DOI as a clickable link where available. References should follow the style of the intended publication venue or, where none is specified, one consistent style throughout. Confirm whether a single reference style, such as APA with DOI, will be mandated.
Peer-Review ProcessAll full-length manuscripts are first checked by the editors for relevance to the conference, completeness, originality, similarity and compliance with ethical policies. Papers that do not meet these requirements may be rejected before peer review.
Manuscripts that pass the editorial check are assigned to independent expert reviewers under a double-blind peer-review process. Reviewers are expected to be objective, to have no conflict of interest, to treat manuscripts as confidential, and to point out relevant published work that has not been cited.
The corresponding author receives the editorial decision together with the reviewers' recommendations and comments. Revised manuscripts must include a point-by-point response to each comment. Editors do not reverse a decision unless serious problems are identified.
Editors and reviewers evaluate each manuscript only on its importance, originality, clarity and relevance to the aims of the conference, without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, institutional affiliation or political philosophy. Manuscripts from members of the organising or editorial team are handled independently of the submitting individual.
Publication EthicsThe editors apply a peer-review process and ethical standards so that only high-quality scientific work is added to the scholarly record. Authors are expected to observe the following.
For complaints or concerns about the review process or a published article, please write to icbiosustain@lpu.co.in. We will acknowledge your email and indicate an estimated timeframe for investigation and resolution.
Policy on Retraction and CorrectionMaintaining the integrity of the scholarly record is of the utmost importance to the editors. Corrections will be made according to the nature of the problem, and a note giving the reason will accompany the corrected or withdrawn paper. If plagiarism or other serious misconduct is confirmed, the article will be removed from the conference publication.
If authors discover a significant error in their work, they must promptly inform the editors or publisher and cooperate in correcting or retracting the paper. If a significant error is reported by a third party, the authors must promptly correct or retract the paper, or give the editors evidence that the original work is correct. For papers published in a partner journal or proceedings volume, that publisher's policies will also apply.
Originality and PlagiarismAuthors must ensure that their work is entirely original and that any work or words of others are properly cited or quoted. Plagiarism takes many forms, from presenting another person's paper as one's own, to copying or closely paraphrasing substantial parts of another paper without attribution, to claiming results from research carried out by others. All forms of plagiarism are unacceptable and constitute unethical publishing behaviour.
Manuscripts should have a similarity index of not more than 10%, excluding references. A low similarity score does not by itself establish originality. Use of generative AI tools must be disclosed, AI tools cannot be listed as authors, and undisclosed AI-generated content is not acceptable.
Authorship of the PaperOnly those who have contributed significantly to the conception, design, execution, data acquisition, analysis or interpretation of the reported study should be listed as authors. Those who contributed to specific aspects of the project should be acknowledged as contributors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate co-authors are included, that no inappropriate co-authors are included, and that every co-author has seen and approved the final version and agreed to its submission.
Copyright and AccessibilityAuthors must hold the rights to all material in their manuscripts. Copyright, licensing and open-access terms, and any associated charges, will be determined by the final publication venue and communicated to authors when confirmed. Selected manuscripts may be recommended for publication in an appropriate journal, special issue or proceedings volume, subject to editorial assessment, peer review and the publisher's acceptance. Submission to the conference does not guarantee publication or indexing in any particular journal or database.
