International Credit Transfer (ICT) System

Lovely Professional University (LPU) offers credit transfer opportunities through its planned transfer and articulation pathways, allowing students to complete part of their education at LPU and the remaining at a partner foreign university.

LPU facilitates this opportunity through following pathways:

First Pathway:

International Credit Transfer Programme (ICTP): Under this programme, credits earned at LPU are carefully mapped to the foreign university’s requirements by the Academic committee of the partner university to ensure a smooth transfer. After meeting the degree requirements of the partner university, the student receives a degree from the host international university. In this programme, at the time of taking admission at LPU, the student will be required to enroll in International Credit Transfer Programme (ICTP) as per details mentioned:
  • 2+2 ICTP: students complete the first two years of their degree at LPU and then transfer to a partner foreign university to finish the remaining two years.
  • 1+1 ICTP: students study one year (or a specific duration) at one institution and then transfers to another institution to complete the remaining years of their degree programme.
  • Students studying in regular programmes other than the ambit of ICTP may also submit their request applications if in case they wish to avail the benefit of credit transfer option and will have to complete the application process as per University guidelines.
Eligibility and Process Students already studying in LPU must have CGPA of 6.5 with no backlogs, re-appears and indiscipline proceedings (pending/action taken) against him/her. Eligible students can apply online through UMS for the Credit Transfer Option, following the stages of Admission, Pre- Application, Counselling, and Final Application.

Second Pathway:

II. LPU also give the students an opportunity to study abroad for a semester or a year at a partner university. It is referred to as Semester/Year Abroad Programme: During this period, they can take courses and earn credits that are recognized and transferred back to their degree Programme at LPU. This is applicable for the students who are yet to finish their full-time Programme at LPU. LPU offers two types of Semester/Year Abroad Programmes:
  • Scholarship Semester: Students do not pay any tuition fee to the host/partner/foreign university during their semester abroad. They only pay the tuition fee to LPU for that specific semester.
  • Paid Semester: Students pay tuition fees both to the host/partner/foreign university and to LPU for the semester abroad.
Note : The Equivalence Committee maps foreign university courses with LPU courses for the semester/year abroad. Credits earned in these mapped courses will be transferred to LPU's transcript upon the student’s return.
Eligibility and Process Students already studying in LPU must have CGPA of 6.5 with no backlogs, re-appears and indiscipline proceedings (pending/action taken) against him/her. Eligible students can apply in Division of internal Affairs for the same.

Third Pathway:

III. Non-Degree Programmes: Lovely Professional University (LPU) also welcomes students from foreign universities not admitted in any of its Programmes to pursue a non-degree Programme which lasts for a semester. The University will issue an Academic Transcript to such students specifying that he has completed the course(s) registered for as a non-degree student. The responsibility of getting the credits earned on account of pursuing study in this University, as stated in the Academic Transcript, transferred to an outside university as and if permissible by the outside University/institution will solely rest with the student only. It is also pertinent to mention that the students who have graduated from LPU have sought admission across the globe in higher degree programmes wherein credits earned in LPU have been recognized at the international level.
