Lovely Professional University as a body has three sewage wastewater treatment plants in place to process and treat wastewater effectively. The university treats all generated wastewater through one main STP of 5000 KLD capacity and two auxiliary STPs of 10 KLD each. Wastewater from academic, administrative, hostel, and other campus areas is collected through a centralized pipeline system and conveyed to the main 5000 KLD STP for treatment. It is ensured that biomedical wastewater is pre-treated with a 1 percent hypo solution in loft tanks before being discharged into the main wastewater line, maintaining hygienic and safe practices. The quantity of wastewater treated through these STPs is recorded daily, ensuring transparency, operational efficiency, and environmental compliance in the university’s wastewater management system.
sources within the university, including blocks, labs, hostels, cafes, canteens, residential flats, and laundries, is directed to the Sewage Treatment Plant for further treatment. To facilitate the distribution of treated water for horticulture, the university has installed a dedicated pipe-line that it's a 9-inch diameter pipeline, extending over a kilometer in length. This infrastructure allows for efficient and widespread use of the treated water.
