Dr. Mittal, who is a well-respected business leader and entrepreneur, has been at the forefront of LPU’s growth and success. Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal is a distinguished educationist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, recognized for his transformative contributions to higher education. A law graduate (LL.B.) from Guru Nanak Dev University, he was conferred an Honoris Causa doctorate by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur (2022) for his outstanding work in academia.

As the Founder Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Dr. Mittal has led the institution to become one of India’s largest private universities, with over 30,000 students from 50+ countries and 150+ academic programs. Under his leadership, LPU has achieved NAAC A++ accreditation, global recognition in Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings, and consistent top positions in NIRF Rankings.

Beyond academics, he has been instrumental in fostering research, innovation, and social impact, overseeing 58 Indian and 27 international patents, launching one of India’s largest private scholarship programs, and promoting rural education through the Saathi Initiative. A passionate supporter of sports, Dr. Mittal has helped shape LPU into a powerhouse of athletic excellence, with the university proudly producing Olympic champions, most notably, Neeraj Chopra, who brought home India’s first-ever Olympic Gold in Javelin Throw at Tokyo 2020.

Dr. Mittal’s contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including recognition in Forbes India (2023), Business Leader of the Year (2022), and Edupreneur of the Year (2021). What sets him apart is not just his visionary leadership but his commitment to holistic education, ensuring that LPU remains at the forefront of academic excellence, innovation, and all-round student development.

Professor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, an esteemed academician and leader, the Vice Chancellor of LPU, bringing over 35 years of expertise in academia, research, and policy-making. A distinguished specialist in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, he has played a pivotal role in shaping higher education. Dr. Sandhu holds an MBBS, MS (Ortho), DSM, FAIS, FASM, FAFSM, FFIMS, FAMS, FPAS, FRCP (London), and D.Sc (H.C.), reflecting his extensive academic and professional achievements. He has held prestigious positions, including Secretary of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and Advisor (Higher Education) to the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab. His contributions extend to various national and international educational organizations, further strengthening academic excellence and institutional development.

Dr. Sandhu is a gold medalist graduate from Government Medical College, Amritsar, and a university topper in postgraduate studies in Sports Medicine from the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala. With around 250 research publications in national and international journals, he has significantly contributed to medical education and research. He pioneered India’s first MD, Ph.D., and Masters in Physical Therapy programs in Sports Medicine at Medical College Amritsar and has served as Vice Chancellor at three universities, including a seven-year tenure at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), as well as holding additional charges as Vice Chancellor at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur State University of Law, Tarn Taran, and Sardar Beant Singh State University, Gurdaspur. His leadership also extends to international organizations, having served as Former Vice President and Secretary General of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine and a Member of its Executive Council.

A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London, and the first Indian honored by the International Federation of Sports Medicine, Dr. Sandhu’s contributions have earned him global recognition. He has also received a D.Sc. (Honoris Causa) from Avinashilingam Deemed to be University. He serves as the Patron of the Indian Association of Sports Medicine, furthering advancements in the field. As LPU’s Vice Chancellor, his vision is to enhance global collaborations, strengthen research, and create an enriching academic environment that fosters innovation, making LPU a hub of excellence in higher education.
