Lovely Professional University’s in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) organized two consecutive Seven-Day Special Summer Camps in Khajurla, Punjab, from May 31 to June 6 and June 7 to 13, 2024, involving 100 volunteers in sustainability and community development initiatives. The first camp focused on tree plantation, Swachh Bharat cleanliness, plastic collection, seed ball creation, library cleaning, hygiene awareness, and a “Joy of Giving” donation drive, with active villager participation. The second camp expanded cleanliness efforts, waste segregation, and hygiene campaigns across additional villages, incorporating parade drills, yoga, cultural activities, and leadership workshops to foster civic responsibility and sustainable rural transformation.
LPU students, in collaboration with the Punjab Culture and Heritage Department, participated in an artistic initiative portraying inspirational feminist artworks through charcoal portraits. The activity celebrated women’s contributions to art history while fostering cultural awareness, creative expression, and critical thinking. It also aimed to connect students with India’s rich artistic heritage, encouraging them to appreciate the role of women in shaping cultural identity through art.
LPU students collaborated with the Architects Association of Chandigarh on a Public Transport project aimed at promoting sustainable urban mobility. As part of this initiative, students applied skills in GIS and demographic analysis learned during Master Plan preparation for participatory and integrated human settlement planning. They also took part in the Poster Competition on Public Transport Promotion (ALECS 2024), highlighting their engagement with local and national bodies to support inclusive and well-planned urban development.
LPU students from school of planning visited Krishna Infrastructure to observe highway construction, learning about concrete mixing, quality management, and the importance of field and laboratory testing in highway construction. They gained practical insights into how streamlined inspection processes and efficient data sharing support project compliance and timely completion.
LPU Filmmaking students visited the Broadcast India Show 2024 in Mumbai, gaining invaluable exposure to the real-world platforms of film, culture, and media production and explore iconic sets like Shark Tank India. The tour provided students with first-hand learning experiences through studio visits, interactive sessions with industry experts, and insights into cutting-edge broadcasting and media technologies, enriching their understanding of film-making and production processes.
LPU-NSS collaborates with government bodies, including the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, to support national immunization initiatives such as the polio drop campaign. Volunteers from the LPU-NSS unit actively participate in these drives by setting up and managing pulse polio booths to administer polio drops to children, contributing directly to the national goal of polio eradication and ensuring that every child receives the necessary immunizations.

In a concerted effort to combat polio and support global health objectives, LPU-NSS volunteers joined forces with local health authorities to administer polio drops to children at strategic locations such as Jalandhar Bus Stand, Jalandhar City Railway Station, Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station, and Haveli. This impactful collaboration underscored LPU's dedication to social responsibility and community service, contributing significantly to the mission of eradicating polio from the country.
Lovely Professional University (LPU), in collaboration with the Jodhpur Urban Planning Department, organized a city development initiative focused on the master and zonal development plans for Jodhpur, Rajasthan. This semester, students from LPU’s Architecture and Planning program engaged in hands-on learning to contribute to sustainable urban planning efforts. During their visit to Jodhpur, students conducted surveys to gather primary data and consulted local offices for secondary data. They met with the Urban Planning Officer to discuss the city’s Master Plan and assessed areas such as sewerage system expansion, treatment capacity, pipeline improvements, and future planning needs. This collaboration reflects LPU’s commitment to sustainable urban development and practical education through partnerships with local authorities.
