  • Overview of biology-inspired art and design, historical perspectives, Nature observation and sketching session
  • Meaning and Definition of biological patterns and forms, Need for Inspiration, Creating patterns inspired from plants, insects, animals, etc., Digital or hand-drawn pattern designs; use of online softwares
  • Introduction to resin art and design, resin art applications in real world scenario; creation of resin art products
  • Introduction to biomimicry, Biomimicry principles, Case studies, Concept sketches for biomimicry project
  • Introduction to textural studies, application with resin, play dough, clay, fabric, colours, etc.; 3D model creation (physical or digital), Art or design prototype based on biological forms using online softwares
  • Introduction to ethics and sustainability, Ethical considerations in using biological beings in art; discussion on sustainability in art and design products, case studies
  • Introduction to Advanced bio-inspired technologies; Drafting and presenting a concept integrating technology with insect/plant inspiration, collaborative project, Concept analysis
  • Final project submission, Public showcase of final products, final assessment, peers and students feedback

Dr.Devina Seram
Assistant Professor

Dr. Devina Seram is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Entomology, School of Agriculture, Lovely Professional University. She has completed her Ph.D. (Agricultural Entomology) from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore with DST-INSPIRE fellowship and a Gold Medalist in her master’s degree. She has qualified ICAR-AIEEA-PG, ICAR-SRF-(PGS) and ICAR-ASRB-NET. She has published several research, review papers and book chapters and has guided both masters’ and Ph.D. students. She has organized several collaborative workshops in LPU. Recently, a One-week Skill Development Program-cum-Exhibition on Insect-inspired Art and Design was organized, which was a huge success.
