What you'll learn

This is a hands-on training program is designed to introduce biotechnology students to the fundamentals of Python programming and its practical applications in biological data analysis. The course begins with core programming concepts and gradually progresses to data handling, visualization, and real-world dataset analysis. Using tools such as Google Colab, NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib, students will gain hands-on experience in writing efficient code and interpreting biological data. By the end of the program, participants will be able to build simple computational workflows and complete a mini-project, preparing them for advanced studies in bioinformatics, data science, and computational biology.

  • Variables, Operators, Data Input/Output, Loops, Conditions, Iterations
  • Data Structures, Functions, Working with Real Biological Data
  • Introduction to FASTA, PDB, MOL2, SMILES etc formats
  • Seq Alignment, Types of Alignment, BLAST and Standalone tools
  • Python/Biopython tools for visualizations
