It covers business opportunities, forms of organizations, entrepreneurship, and core management concepts. The course also focuses on marketing, finance, human resource management, leadership, and organizational behaviour, helping students understand how businesses operate effectively in a dynamic environment. Learning Outcomes- After completing this course, students will be able to: 1. Understand the Indian business environment and recent trends in business. 2. Identify different forms of business organizations and basics of entrepreneurship. 3.Understand key management functions and organizational structures. 4. Explain basic concepts of marketing and marketing strategies. 5. Understand sources of finance and basic human resource management practices.

  • Introduction to Indian business environment and spectrum of business activities, Manufacturing vs Service sector in India, LPG reforms and globalization impact, Make in India 2.0, technological innovation and digital transformation, Emerging business opportunities and startup ecosystem.
  • Introduction to business enterprises, Forms of business organization, Advantages and limitations of each form, Criteria for selecting a form of organization, Entrepreneurial process, startups and innovation.
  • Introduction to management and planning, Decision making and strategy formulation, Organizing and organization structures, Delegation, decentralization and departmentalization, Groups, teams and agile organizations.
  • Marketing management concepts, Marketing orientation and marketing mix, Product life cycle, Pricing policies and strategies, Digital marketing and consumer trends.
  • Introduction to financial management, Sources of finance, Securities market and SEBI, HRM concept and functions, HR analytics and future workforce trends.

Dr. Priya Kushwaha
Assistant Professor

Dr. Priya Kushwaha is an Assistant Professor at Lovely Professional University, Punjab. She has received her Ph. D Degree in Management (HR) from Amity University Rajasthan on January 25th, 2019. Also completed MBA in HR & Finance i.e., dual specialization from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. She has completed BCA from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. She has 6 years of experience in Management Education also having 8 years of Research Experience. Her current research interests include Stress Management, HRIS, HR Analytics, Spirituality. Her area of specialization is HRM. Seven Papers have been published in reputed Journals & book chapters like Taylor & Francis, Scopus- Indexed, Springer, ABDC, UGC Care Listed Journals. Also participated and presented research papers in 15 National & International Conferences. She has attended more than Seven Faculty Development Programmes of highly reputed colleges of different states. She has participated in five webinars on the burning topic of Management. She got sponsorship from AIMS (Association of Indian Management Schools) for conducting 5 days Faculty Development Programme. She successfully completed 4 MOOCs courses- NPTEL, LinkedIn Learning. She invited as an external to conduct Pre-Ph. D thesis submission of 6 scholars also invited as an external examiner of BBA for taking viva-voce.

Assistant Professor

Dr. Manpreet Kailay is an Assistant Professor at the institute Lovely Professional University Punjab working in Human Resource Management department. Prior to this, Manpreet holds a Bachelor degree in Commerce and Masters of Commerce. Manpreet also qualified UGC-NET, 2020. She holds her keen interest in Sustainability, Employee well-being, Human mind, Employee engagement. Manpreet has also presented research articles in National and International conference, and also published research articles in UGC care list namely: Parikalpanna KIIT Management and Scopus indexed journals namely: International Journal of Healthcare Management; TQM Journal; International Encyclopedia of Business Management; International Journal of Indian Culture and Business Management; Journal of Health Management; Academy of Management Annals.
