About the Workshop

The Right to Walk: National Capacity Building Workshop for Policy and Implementation is a flagship initiative of the School of Planning, LPU, organized in collaboration with the Punjab Police. This workshop aims to address the critical need for safe, inclusive, and walkable urban environments by fostering discussions on policy formulation and effective implementation strategies.
Scheduled to take place on 25th-26th April 2025, the workshop will bring together policymakers, urban planners, law enforcement officials, and researchers to explore pressing issues surrounding pedestrian rights, mobility justice, and urban design interventions. The sessions will delve into legal frameworks, enforcement mechanisms, and innovative approaches to ensuring pedestrian safety and accessibility.
With a focus on actionable solutions, this workshop aspires to equip stakeholders with the knowledge and tools needed to advocate for and implement sustainable pedestrian-friendly policies. This engaging platform will challenge participants to rethink urban mobility and contribute to shaping cities that prioritize the fundamental Right to Walk.

About Punjab Road Safety And Traffic Research Centre

The Punjab Road Safety and Traffic Research Centre (PRSTRC) is a research and development institute established under Section 19(4) of the Punjab Police Act 2007. The institute is mandated to carry out research on road safety and traffic related issues in the state of Punjab and to provide training to the police and other stakeholders on these issues. The institute is headed by a Director, who is a domain knowledge specialist, and has a team of experts from various disciplines such as road safety engineering, geoinformatics, automotive safety, education and awareness, etc. The institute has carried out various studies on road safety and traffic related issues in the state of Punjab and has also developed various training programs for the police and other stakeholders.
