Tree Plantation Drives
Sankalp Enviro, a student organization at Lovely Professional University (LPU), spearheaded a remarkable tree plantation drive titled "Grow Green - A Tree for the Future." This event, conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal, Dean, and Head of the Division of Student Welfare (DSW) at LPU, witnessed the successful planting of over 100 trees on the university campus. During the drive, participants were educated about the environmental significance of tree planting, including carbon sequestration, air purification, and biodiversity conservation.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) organizes World Environment Day, which is the largest international day dedicated to the environment since 1973 and has been observed on June 5, 2022. Volunteers from the LPU NSS marked World Environment Day 2022 by planting 650 plant saplings in Jalandhar, Punjab, to make a positive contribution to the improvement of the local environment.

Plantation drive on Earth Day - 20-Apr-23
LPU-NSS organized a plantation drive on Earth Day from 20th April,2023 to 24th April, 2023 with 100 enthusiastic volunteers participating actively. Together, they contributed to environmental sustainability by planting trees in the community. The objective of a plantation drive is to promote afforestation and reforestation to combat deforestation.
Planet Power Play: Plantation Drive- 25 April - 10 May 2023 LPU Student Organization Tachyons in collaboration with Nivy Care Foundation (Ngo) organized an event "Planet Power Play: Plantation Drive" from April 25th to May 10th, 2023, drawing the active involvement of approximately 70 dedicated volunteers. This drive took place in different parts of the country i.e. Lucknow, Phagwara, Guwahati- Assam, Jalandhar. The mission aimed to distribute and plant saplings extensively, while also raising awareness about environmental conservation and the urgency to save our planet.
Plantation Drive for a Greener Tomorrow - 2-Oct-22
On October 2nd, 2022, the LPU’s Student Organization Pradyut Foundation hosted a "Plantation Drive for a Greener Tomorrow" with 20 volunteers. The event took place at Chaheru village ground, with the primary objectives of contributing to nature, raising awareness about environmental conservation, and educating local communities on tree care.
Lovely Professional University (LPU) has consistently demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability through regular plantation drives in different areas, including cities and adopted villages. The university's dedicated LPU-NSS volunteers play a crucial role in these initiatives, actively participating in the village plantation drives to foster a green atmosphere by planting a diverse range of trees and plants. These initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 13 and 15. SDG 13 focuses on Climate Action, aiming to combat climate change and its impacts, while SDG 15 aims to protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, including forests.
