Lovely Professional University (LPU) firmly believes that the insights and feedback provided by stakeholders are instrumental in achieving sustainable automation, ultimately leading to continuous enhancements in the student learning experience. Among the core components of learning, practical-based education, offering hands-on experience, plays a pivotal role. To gain real-time feedback on student satisfaction during practical sessions, LPU has designed a unique and copyrighted software called the Lab Resource Reporting Engine (LRRE).
The LRRE is an integrator-based system that harnesses multiple programming languages, including ASP.NET, HTML, Javascript, IONIC, and SQL Server. It has been meticulously developed and integrated into the in-house LPU application known as LPUTouch. The integrator performs a dual role, automatically fetching two critical pieces of information:

a. Real-Time Laboratory Location: This includes the specific laboratory number and its corresponding name, sourced directly from the student's timetable.

b. Course Information: The name of the course is extracted from the student's course registration data.
The system functions seamlessly with the assistance of an input library that contains essential data. This library encompasses key elements such as the laboratory number and name, course code, experiment names, resources required for each experiment, comprehensive details about the course instructor, and information about the laboratory technical staff.
When students engage with the feedback interface during a practical session, they are prompted to select the name of the experiment from a dropdown menu. Once this selection is made, the system automatically populates relevant information. This includes details about the experiment's required resources, the course instructor responsible for the session, and the contact information of the laboratory technical staff. Armed with this information, students can actively participate by providing valuable feedback about the conduct of the practical session, the availability of laboratory resources, and the functionality of laboratory equipment.
This innovative system serves as a beacon, allowing the identification of key areas of improvement within the laboratory setting for future enhancements. The issues flagged and reported by students are made visible to the appropriate authorities, enabling them to take corrective actions within defined timeframes. The underlying algorithm ensures that the satisfaction level of students during laboratory experiments is gauged swiftly in real-time, fostering a responsive and adaptive learning environment.
Authorized staff members are empowered to review and act upon the feedback, recording their actions within the system through user-friendly interfaces. The LRRE system is tightly integrated with a comprehensive dashboard within the University Management System (UMS), enabling real-time analysis and visualization of LRRE feedback. This integrated dashboard is instrumental in providing a holistic view of the feedback data, facilitating data-driven decisions and enhancing the overall quality and effectiveness of practical-based learning.
One of the significant advantages of the Lab Resource Reporting Engine is its ability to minimize equipment downtime. It achieves this by enabling users to report faults and issues instantly, facilitating swift resolution. As a result, the LRRE has emerged as an efficient and indispensable tool, contributing to informed decision-making and continuous improvements in practical-based learning.
During the months of August and September 2023, a total of 2,569 feedback submissions were received. Impressively, over 96% of these feedback entries reported satisfactory conduct and availability of resources. This noteworthy success demonstrates the LRRE's effectiveness in enhancing the practical learning experience for students and its pivotal role in the pursuit of excellence at Lovely Professional University.
