Objective of Scholarship
The objective of Post Matric Scholarship Scheme is to provide financial assistance to SC /OBC students studying at Post Matriculation or Post-Secondary stage to enable them to complete the education. In this scheme, all the students who are pursuing their studies through regular courses and correspondence courses are eligible for this scheme.
Eligibility Conditions
  • Students belongs to Punjab under category SC and OBC are eligible for Post Matric Scholarship, Punjab.
  • In case of SC students, parents/guardians family income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2, 50,000/- (Rupee two lakh, fifty thousand only) per annum.
  • In case of OBC students, the parents / guardians family income from all sources does not exceed Rs 1, 00,000/- (Rupees one lakh) per annum.
  • Course fee/Tuition fee and maintenance Allowance will be credited directly to the student’s bank account by the Welfare office, Chandigarh.
  • A scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other scholarship/stipend.
  • Students who pursue their studies through correspondence courses are also eligible. The term correspondence includes distant and continuing education.
  • Student must be regular to his/her studies.
  • Student must have maintained minimum attendance as per university policy.
  • In case student left the university in between or starts of the session he/she has to inform to the university for cancellation of their PMS scholarship.
  • Student should be permanent resident of Punjab.

Objective of Scholarship
The objectives of the Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region are:
  • To provide equal opportunities for higher studies in NE Region.
  • To increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in NE Region.
  • To focus more on professional education in NE Region.
  • Optimum utilization of NER Budgetary Allocation.
  • It is envisaged to provide ten thousand (10,000) fresh scholarships every year for general degree courses, technical and professional courses, including medical and para-medical courses.

Objective of Scholarship
The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to 1000 SC/ST candidates to pursue postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects at recognized Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges.
Eligibility Conditions
  • The candidate must have obtained Graduate degree in the relevant subject and obtained admission at Postgraduate level for regular full time course in any of the Professional subject in a recognized University/Institution/College.
  • Candidates pursuing post graduate course in professional subjects by correspondence or by Distance Education mode are not eligible to receive financial assistance under this scheme.
  • The upper age limit for male applicants is 45 years as on 1st July on the year of application, and 50 years in the case of female candidates. In exceptional cases, the age may be relaxed.
  • The number of slots available under the scheme are 1000 per year. The tenure of award is for two/three years depending upon tenure of the postgraduate course.

Objective of Scholarship
The scheme caters total number of 200 Fellowship [Junior Research Fellows (JRF)] per year to students with disabilities. The scheme covers all universities/institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Non-Universities/Institutions and is implemented by the UGC itself on the pattern of the scheme of UGC Fellowship being awarded to research students pursuing M.Phil. and Ph.D. These fellowships will be available to students with disabilities who are covered under. The Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995. Thus, a person with disability who wishes to avail the benefit under the Act has to obtain a disability certificate from the medical authority notified for the purpose
Eligibility Conditions
  • Any student with disabilities who is already registered to M.Phil./Ph.D. degree in a University or academic institution by completing the required formalities for admission in that University or academic institution is eligible for the award of Fellowship, subject to provision of the scheme as per the advertisement of UGC.
  • After two years, if the progress in the research works of the awardee is found satisfactory, his/her tenure will be extended for a further period of three years as Senior Research Fellowship (SRF). The research work will be assessed by a three-member committee set up by the University. The committee will consist of the Supervisor, Head of the Department and one outside expert in the subject. JRF may be terminated in case the progress of the candidate is not found satisfactory by the committee. The SRF shall be sanctioned on year to year basis on the recommendation of the Supervisor of the candidate duly accepted/rejected by the Head of the Department and finally approved by the Vice-Chancellor. The total period of award of JRF and SRF shall not exceed a period of five years.
  • The students with disabilities once considered eligible for the fellowship shall not be entitled to any other benefits from Central or State Government or any other body like UGC offering similar benefit to avoid duplication and increase coverage. Only those doing regular and full time M.Phil./Ph.D. course of a University/Research Institution shall be eligible for the fellowship. Employees of any University/College/Educational Institution/Central/State/UT Government shall be excluded from availing Fellowship, even if they are on Study Leave or EOL to pursue the M.Phil./Ph.D. course.

Objective of Scholarship
  • The objective of this award is to provide an opportunity to carry out the advanced studies and research in science, engineering and technology, humanities and social sciences in Indian Universities and Colleges recognized under Section 2 (f) and fit to receive assistance under section 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956/Institutes of National Importance established by the Central/State Government.
  • The candidate should not be more than 55 years of age as on 1st July of the year of application. The total duration of the fellowship is five years. There shall be reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped candidates as per provision of the constitution and instructions issued by the Govt. of India from time to time.
  • 55% marks at UG level and 60% of marks at PG level in case of general/open category, while for reserved category candidates, those will be 50% at UG level and 55% at PG level respectively. Age up to 55 years for the candidates belonging to general/open category and that will be 60 years for reserved category/minority community. Only Ph.D awarded unemployed candidates will be eligible for the award of Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
Eligibility Conditions
  • The candidate must have a doctorate degree in the relevant subject preferably with published research work to their credit.
  • In case of general/open category, 55% marks at UG level and 60% of marks at PG level.
  • For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PH) candidates, 50% at UG level and 55% at PG level.

Objective of Scholarship
The objective of the Fellowship is to provide integrated five year fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students from minority communities, as notified by the Central Government to pursue higher studies such as M. Phil and Ph.D. The Fellowship will cover all Universities/Institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) and section 3 of the UGC Act and will be implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs through UGC for students belonging to the minority communities. Eligibility Conditions
A candidate has to fulfill the following conditions to be eligible for award of this fellowship.
  • He/she should belong to one of the minority communities notified under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
  • He/she must be registered for regular and full time M.Phil/Ph.D courses in University/Academic Institution by fulfilling conditions of admission of that University/Institution, subject to provisions of the Fellowship as per advertisement of UGC.
  • The minority community students once considered eligible for the fellowship shall not be entitled to benefits under any other source, Central or State Government or any other body like UGC for the same study.
  • Prior clearance of NET/SLET examination will not be a prerequisite for award of Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students for M.Phil/Ph.D
  • In order to qualify for the award of JRF/ SRF the UGC norms would be applicable at pre-M.Phil and pre-Ph.D stage, respectively, including the minimum score of 50% at post graduate level.

Objective of Scholarship
The scheme envisages building capacities of the youth of J&K to enable them to compete in the normal course. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Scheduled Caste students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.
Eligibility Conditions
  • The scholarships are open to nationals of India.
  • These scholarships will be given for the study of all recognized post-matriculation or post-secondary courses pursued in recognized institutions with the following exceptions:
  • "Scholarships are not awarded for training courses like Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's Courses and Private Pilot License Courses. Courses at Training - Ship Dufferin (Now Rajendra), courses of training at the Military College, Dehradun, courses at Pre-Examination Training Centers of all India and State levels."
  • Only those candidates who belong to Scheduled Castes so specified in relation to the State/Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs i.e. permanently settled and who have passed the Matriculation or Higher Secondary or any higher examination of a recognized University or Board of Secondary Education, will be eligible.
  • Candidates who after passing one stage of education are studying in the same stage of education in different subject e.g. I. Sc. after I.A. or B.Com. after B.A. or M.A. in other subject will not be eligible.
  • Students who, after having completed their educational career in one professional line, e.g. L.L.B. after B.T./B.Ed. will not be eligible. From the academic year 1980-81, studies in two professional courses are allowed.
  • Students studying in Class XI of the Higher Secondary School courses of the XII Class of the Multipurpose High School will not be eligible for it being a continuous school course. However, in cases where 10th class examination of such courses is treated as equivalent to Matriculation and students who after passing 10th class join other courses, such students will be treated as post-matric students and will be eligible for the award of scholarships.
  • Students pursuing Post Graduate courses in medicine will be eligible if they are not allowed to practice during the period of their course.
  • Students who after failing or passing the under graduate/post-graduate examinations in Arts/Science/Commerce join any recognized professional or Technical certificate/diploma/degree courses will be awarded scholarships if otherwise eligible. No subsequent failure will be condoned except courses in Group 'I'.
  • All children of the same parents/guardians will be entitled to receive benefits of the scheme.
  • A scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other scholarship/stipend.
  • Scholarships will be paid to the students whose parents/guardians' income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2, 00,000/- (Rupees two lakh only) per annum.
  • Transfer certificate is must at the time of applying scholarship first time.

Objective of Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to meritorious and deserving Bhutanese students who are studying in various recognized institutes/colleges in India on self-financed basis.
Eligibility Conditions
  • Students can apply directly to the Embassy in the prescribed application form which can be downloaded from the Embassy’s website. Prior to submission, the forms have to be counter-signed by the Head of the College/Institute where the applicants are studying.

Pursuing Professional Courses In Engineering, Medical Stream And Master’s Degree Course In Business Administration, Geology And Geophysics.
Eligibility Conditions
  • The scholarships are open for studies in India and for Indian nationals only.
  • Candidate should be a student of 1st year of Graduate Engineering or 1st year of Master’s degree in Geology/Geophysics or MBA. The scholarship shall be admissible only for pursuing full time regular courses by ISC/CBSE/MCI/AICTE/UGC/Association of India Universities/State Education Boards/State Government/Central Government.
  • Students pursuing four years Engineering courses and Two Years Masters course in Business Administration & Master’s degree in Geology/ Geophysics are eligible.
  • Candidate should have obtained minimum 60% marks in 12th class for Engineering discipline. Similarly, 60% marks are necessary in graduation for P.G. Courses i.e. Geology/Geophysics/MBA. Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA/CGPA) of minimum 6.0 in 10 point’s scale of grading system.
  • The specific zone where a student can apply for scholarship shall be decided on the basis of the location of University/College/Institute in which the student was studying for the qualifying examination (i.e. 12th class for Graduate courses and Graduation degree for Post Graduate courses) irrespective of the domicile of the student.
  • Gross annual income of family of the candidate from all sources should not be more than Rs 4.50 lakhs per annum (i.e. Rs.37, 500/- per month).
  • The age limit of the applicant is maximum 30 years as on 1st of October, 2014 for the Academic Session.
  • The candidates should not be availing or intend to avail any other financial assistance/scholarship from any other source. However, in case of student of getting fee waiver/ reimbursement of tuition fees from any of the State governments are eligible for applying for the scholarships.

  • 10. The continuation of scholarships once awarded shall be subject to satisfactory performance in each year’s annual examination and conduct of the candidate.   • If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement/certificates, his/her scholarship will be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid shall be recovered, at the discretion of the concerned State Government/Union Territory Administration.

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from poor families to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies.
Eligibility Conditions
  • The scholarships are awarded on the basis of the results of senior secondary examination. 82000 fresh scholarships per annum (41000 for boys and 41000 for girls) for graduate/post-graduate studies in colleges and universities and for professional courses, such as Medical, Engineering, etc. could be provided.

  • A person with disability having not less than 40% disability and having a disability certificate issued by any competent medical authority.
