Skill Sink: Reflect, Speak, Lead is a transformative 6-week course designed to help learners uncover their authentic communication style, sharpen their interpersonal skills, and evolve into reflective, articulate, and impactful professionals. The course blends foundational and advanced concepts in verbal and non-verbal communication, public speaking, storytelling, cross-cultural etiquette, conflict resolution, and workplace-ready interactions. Learners engage with practical tools like journaling, SWOT analysis, and structured frameworks for effective communication. Through immersive sessions, the course fosters a holistic approach to self-awareness and leadership communication, empowering participants to not just speak, but speak with purpose and presence. Learning Outcomes By the end of this course, learners will be capable of: Identifying key elements of professional communication including verbal, non-verbal, tonal, and cross-cultural nuances. Applying self-reflection tools such as journaling, SWOT analysis, and 360° feedback to assess and enhance their personal and professional growth. Demonstrating confident and structured public speaking skills using persuasive strategies and tone modulation techniques. Utilizing storytelling as a strategic tool for influence, personal branding, and professional engagement. Engaging in thoughtful, responsive conversations across diverse workplace scenarios including interviews, feedback exchanges, and conflict resolution. Developing leadership-ready communication strategies that foster collaboration, resolve tension, and inspire teams.

  • This week lays the groundwork for holistic professional development by helping learners explore their inner landscape and foundational communication skills. Through tools like journaling, SWOT analysis, and 360° feedback, students gain clarity about their strengths, values, and areas for improvement. The module also introduces key verbal and non-verbal communication strategies, fostering awareness of how one’s message, tone, and body language align to build authentic expression.
  • Effective communication begins with listening. This week focuses on active listening as a powerful interpersonal skill and teaches how to respond with empathy and thoughtfulness. Learners will explore techniques to overcome communication barriers, build presence in conversations, and engage constructively in challenging interpersonal moments. The sessions also introduce conflict resolution fundamentals, helping students handle difficult conversations with calm, clarity, and confidence.
  • This week transforms nervous speakers into confident communicators. Learners dive deep into public speaking frameworks—understanding audience dynamics, structuring ideas effectively, and delivering messages with poise and conviction. Special emphasis is placed on persuasive communication techniques (ethos, pathos, logos), helping learners influence others through logic, emotion, and credibility. Voice modulation, tone, and body language are refined for high-impact delivery.
  • Storytelling is more than entertainment—it’s a leadership tool. This week guides learners in crafting compelling narratives for interviews, presentations, and workplace influence. The sessions explore narrative structure, emotional appeal, and authenticity in storytelling. Participants learn to use stories to inspire, explain complex ideas, and establish personal branding, while enhancing delivery with voice, visuals, and expressive techniques.
  • This module focuses on real-world professional communication. Learners practice how to communicate appropriately across formal, informal, and cross-cultural settings. Supriya Sharma, Assistant Professor of Communication Skills and Verbal Ability, holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology and brings over 13 years of academic experience, specializing in enhancing learners’ linguistic competence and professional communication. As a core member of the Department of Communication Skills, she has designed and led impactful events including public speaking workshops, vocabulary development sessions, storytelling competitions, and SOP writing training, aimed at refining verbal skills across diverse learner groups. Her professional credentials are strengthened by certifications from Harappa Education in Speaking Effectively, Thinking Critically, Listening Actively, Building Presence, and Business Storytelling. A recipient of the Teaching Appreciation Award, she is also a published researcher, having contributed to book chapters on topics like sustainability, mental health, and personal growth. Actively involved in academic video scripting, induction programs, and women empowerment seminars, Supriya Sharma continues to empower learners and faculty through her insightful sessions and learner-centric pedagogy.
