  • 1)Application of tanpura and Aum in creating a meditative state 2)Raga and its emotional impact: Theory of rasa and its application in healing. 3)Specific ragas and their therapeutic uses: a.Raga Yaman b.Raga Bhupali c.Raga Bhairav d.Raga Bhimpalasi 4)Role of talas (rhythmic cycles) in relaxation and synchronization.

Dr. Kumar Sargam
Assistant Professor

Dr. Kumar Sargam is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Performing Arts , Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, India. He has received his Ph.D. degree from Department of Vocal Music, Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu, Varanasi in 2016. His research areas include Hindustani Classical Music, Musicology and Ethnomusicology of India. He is more focused on the Research of Raga Music and Folk genre of subcontinental music. He has completed a Funded project & JRF from Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund. currently he is working on self-funded project on transcribing music theory and practical of classical genre of Indian Music for e-learning platform. He is also a member for Research Advisory Committee, Curriculum Framework Committee of different reputed organisations that deals with Music Education. He has published a solo book, two co-author books and 24 research publication in UGC -Care and Peer reviewed Journals. He has also published 3 Research paper on Scopus Indexed international Journals. He has participated in 18 international Conferences and Seminars, 13 National Seminars and 6 National Workshops on Music practices. In addition, a text book on Indian Music is under Publication 3 Research paper are submitted in national and Scopus Journals. He is an Blogger writing music content in his blog www.musicbanaras.com and active in YouTube for music lectures. Apart from academic work he is a classical vocalist maintaining the legacy of Banaras Gharana, a composer, lyricist and former Music Mentor, Music therapist and program judge in Indian Idol and other realities show.
