What you'll learn

“Speak, Act, Engage - II: Enhancing Communication Skills via Theater” is a dynamic, 30-day course designed to help individuals improve their communication skills(Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) through the powerful medium of theater. Whether you’re looking to boost your public speaking abilities, enhance your body language, or build confidence in any speaking environment, this course offers a creative and engaging approach. By integrating theatrical techniques such as improvisation, role-playing, monologue delivery, and emotional expression, students will develop a strong foundation in both verbal and non-verbal communication. This course is ideal for anyone who seeks to become a more effective communicator, whether for professional presentations, social interactions, or personal growth. Through hands-on, activity-based learning, you will cultivate a stronger, more authentic presence, and learn to connect with any audience—large or small—through clarity, expression, and confidence.

  • This foundational module introduces students to the essential principles of effective communication alongside the creative and expressive world of theater. It aims to build core communication skills—such as active listening, verbal articulation, effective writing, non-verbal cues, and confidence in public speaking(LSRW)—while exploring the basics of theatrical expression including voice modulation, body language, stage presence, and improvisation. Through interactive activities, role-plays, and group exercises, students will understand how communication and performance techniques intersect to enhance clarity, persuasion, emotional impact, and audience engagement. The theater component serves as a dynamic platform to boost self-confidence, creative thinking, and collaborative abilities, making students more articulate and expressive communicators in academic, social, and professional contexts.
  • This module focuses on developing the art of storytelling as a powerful communication and performance tool. Students will learn how to craft compelling narratives, structure stories effectively, and convey emotions and messages with clarity and impact. Emphasis will be placed on enhancing stage presence—how to command attention, stay grounded, and connect authentically with an audience. In addition, the module introduces key dialogue techniques that bring spoken interactions to life. Students will practice voice control, timing, listening, emotional response, and the use of pauses to create more natural and engaging conversations in performance. Through exercises, pair work, and scene rehearsals, learners will develop confidence in using dialogue not just as a script but as a means of dynamic, expressive communication.
  • This module serves as a culmination of the foundational skills acquired in earlier sessions, focusing on the integration of key theater techniques into cohesive performances. Students will apply voice modulation, body language, emotional expression, improvisation, character building, and dialogue delivery in collaborative scenes or short performances. The emphasis is on blending these elements seamlessly to create authentic, engaging, and expressive presentations. The module also includes the First Evaluation, where students are assessed on their application of communication and theatrical skills in a practical setting. Through performances, peer reviews, and instructor feedback, learners will reflect on their growth, identify areas for improvement, and set personal goals for further development. This evaluation encourages creativity, teamwork, and constructive critique, reinforcing both confidence and competence on stage and in real-life communication scenarios.
  • Building on foundational skills, this advanced module delves deeper into sophisticated aspects of communication and theatrical performance. Students will explore advanced voice work, emotional range, character development, and nuanced use of space and silence. The focus will be on refining articulation, persuasive delivery, and adaptability in both scripted and improvised contexts. Theater techniques such as monologue performance, ensemble scenes, subtext interpretation, and physical storytelling will be introduced to enhance dramatic expression and stagecraft. In parallel, advanced communication strategies—such as persuasive speaking, audience analysis, and expressive listening—will be practiced to strengthen real-world communication impact. Through challenging exercises, scene work, and constructive critique, students will enhance their confidence, creativity, and command over both verbal and non-verbal expression, preparing them for high-level presentations and performances.
  • This capstone module is designed to bring together all the skills developed throughout the course, guiding students toward performance excellence and confident self-expression. Emphasis is placed on mastering the integration of communication and theater techniques—voice, movement, character portrayal, emotional depth, and audience engagement—to deliver polished and impactful performances. Students will participate in rehearsals, ensemble work, and final presentations that reflect their individual growth and creative collaboration. The Final Evaluation serves as a comprehensive assessment of their abilities, focusing on clarity of expression, creativity, stage presence, and teamwork. Through instructor feedback and peer reflections, students will gain valuable insights into their strengths and areas for continued improvement. By the end of this module, learners will demonstrate a high level of proficiency in performance and communication, equipping them with lifelong skills for academic, professional, and creative endeavors. They will be able to enhance their Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing skills by participating in activities.
  • This module is focused on the final phase of the learning journey—preparing students for their culminating performance in the Final Showcase and Evaluation. It emphasizes rehearsal discipline, refinement of performance techniques, and collaborative scene-building. Students will apply all previously learned communication and theater skills, including voice modulation, body language, timing, emotional expression, and audience interaction, to shape compelling performances. In addition to creative preparation, students will engage in self-assessment, peer feedback, and instructor-guided critiques to polish their work. Emphasis will be placed on clarity, confidence, creativity, and coherence in delivery. This phase not only readies students for formal evaluation but also fosters a sense of accomplishment and stage readiness. By the end of the module, learners will be fully equipped—technically and emotionally—to present their work in the Final Showcase, demonstrating growth, collaboration, and mastery of expressive communication, which will cover Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing components.
