Through practical activities, students learn to communicate confidently, structure impactful responses, use effective body language, manage stress, and present ideas clearly and professionally in real-world scenarios. Here are brief learning outcomes: To develop confidence in speaking during interviews and group discussions. To structure clear, concise, and impactful responses. To use appropriate body language and voice modulation while speaking. To enhance fluency, pronunciation, and clarity in communication. To participate effectively and professionally in group discussions. To manage stress and maintain composure in high-pressure speaking situations.   • Students understand placement expectations, components of impactful speech, and identify personal strengths and weaknesses. Activity: Ice-breaker speaking circle + Self-introduction recording.
  • Students learn strategies to speak without pauses and fillers. Activity: 1-minute uninterrupted speaking + peer feedback.
  • STAR method PREP method Description: Students learn to structure interview answers logically. Activity: Practice answering HR questions using templates.
  • Develop content and deliver personal interview answers confidently. Activity: Pair interview practice.
  • Students learn to project confidence through posture and voice. Activity: Video-based analysis + expression drill.
  • Students undergo timed mock interviews with peer reviewers. Activity: 5-minute interviews + reflection notes.
  • 10-minute individual interview Evaluation of fluency, content structure, body language
  • Students learn what evaluators look for in a GD. Activity: Mini GD on a simple topic.
  • Students develop strategies to speak effectively in groups. Activity: Group activity—agree/disagree rounds.
  • Students learn to interpret metaphorical topics quickly. Activity: GD on topics like “Blue is better than Red,” “Zero.”
  • Students practice analytical thinking for GD. Activity: Case study discussion.
  • Students learn constructive participation techniques. Activity: Rotating leadership GD.
  • Students participate in a full GD with scoring. Activity: Recorded GD for self-analysis.
  • Evaluation on communication, teamwork, leadership, clarity, logic
  • Students reflect on their progress throughout the course, review their interview and GD performances, and receive structured feedback from peers and the teacher

Assistant Professor

Poonam Bala is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Verbal Ability at Lovely Professional University. She has completed Trinity College London Certificate TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), rated at Level 5 on Ofqual's Regulated Qualifications Framework. She has been teaching English for 11 years. Throughout her career, she exercised communication, verbal ability, and counseling in the contribution of team efforts and organizational improvements. Moreover ,she is providing necessary supervision to the IELTS aspirants in achieving desired bands to study abroad.
