Scholarships/ Fee Benefits for Ph.D.

On the basis of Performance in LPUNEST (Ph.D.)

The categories of scholarship are based upon performance in LPUNEST (Ph.D.) The cut-off for each category will be announced along with the result of respective schedule. The scholarship details are as per the following table:

Note:
Applicant seeking test (LPUNEST (Ph.D.)) exemption on basis of, UGC (NET/ JRF)/ CSIR (NET/ JRF)/ ICAR (JRF/ SRF) examination/ SLET (Punjab only)/ GATE/ GPAT/ ICAR (NET), Teacher Fellowship holder or passed M.Phil. Programme (in Regular mode only) may appear for test LPUNEST (Ph.D.) in order to avail the scholarship as mentioned above.


The result of scholarship for Ph.D. applicants will be declared along with the Ph.D. Interview results.

Scholarships upto 90% of programme fee are offered to research associates in centrally funded labs, Professionals working in Industry/Corporate/Teaching and candidates with various research achievements.

LPU Research Fellowship and Scholarship ^

LPU Research Fellowship and Scholarship (For Full Time candidates only) i) Criteria-1: Ph.D. Scholars who have cleared CSIR-UGC NET JRF/SPM/GATE (Rank 1-1000) /GPAT (Rank 1-500).
OR
ii) Criteria-2: Have two Scopus indexed research or review papers with minimum impact factor of 1 each for Science and Technology, and Applied Medical Sciences. For Business and Arts, two Scopus indexed Research or review papers in Q1/A*category journal.

iii) Criteria-3: Have filed/published three patents out of which, at least one patent application should be granted.

Full Programme Fee Waiver i.e. No Programme Fee maximum upto first 7 semesters with subject to minimum research outcome each year after which scholar needs to pay all applicable fee as per programme. Fellowship amount:
31,000/- per month upto maximum first 7 semesters with subject to fulfillment of condition of minimum research outcome

Fellowship Seats: Total Number of Fellowships seats are 22.

  • Minimum research outcome: Each year the research scholar under this scholarship shall be required to publish at least three Scopus indexed research/ review papers in Q1 journals with minimum impact factor of 2 each for LFTS and LFAMS/ and at least three Scopus indexed research/ review papers in Q1 or A* journals for LFBA each year.
  • Scholarship discontinuation: Non-fulfilment of the minimum research outcome may lead to the cancellation of this scholarship.
  • Scholarship Transfer case: If the scholars as per eligibility criteria-(i) are not able to fulfil the 4terms then it may lead to cancellation of this scholarship and they will be applicable for normal JRF scholarship given at the time of admission for the fixed time as per the university guidelines.

Note: Each year (for maximum upto 4 years) scholar needs to provide the continuation proof of job on a academic organization letterhead / Salary Slip for applicability of this scholarship failing of which, the scholarship can be terminated.

4. Other Scholarship categories

  • #Minimum 30% scholarship for male candidates and 50% scholarship for female candidates will be granted to full time candidates. In addition, full time candidates (except the ones getting any other fellowship like JRF) may also get Teaching Fellowship of Rs. 15,600 subject to qualifying the eligibility criterion of teaching fellowship and available vacancies.
  • LPU Alumni (done any previous qualification from LPU either in regular or distance mode) will be given 10% additional scholarship in Ph.D programme with a condition that the scholarship cannot exceed the maximum scholarship slab (i.e. 90% in case of Full Time and 70% in case of part Time).

Note:

  • The semester fee would be applicable till the time of thesis submission.
  • ** The scholars are required to submit the following document at the time of admission
    • a) No objection certificate (NOC) from employer
    • b) Proof of Leaves taken from the employer for the complete duration of Ph.D. programme
  • GATE and GPAT score should be valid at the time of admission.
  • If candidate applies from above categories or elsewhere from LPU, only one scholarship whichever is higher will be applicable.
  • Candidates enrolling in Full Time mode may be given three or more months of time period to complete their existing assignment and join the University for their full-time Ph.D.
  • If candidate qualifies JRF/NET/SPM/GATE/GPAT within 1.5 years of registration in the Ph.D. Programme then he/she is eligible for scholarship on that basis in the immediate next term.
  • If candidate has been granted Patent with in 1.5 years of registration in the Ph.D Programme then he/she is eligible for scholarship on that basis in the immediate next term.
  • Allotted scholarships to Research Associates, Industry Professionals and Academicians (Universities/Colleges/Schools) will continue in subsequent years only after the submission and verification of job continuation certificates.
  • If any of the candidate joins Centrally Funded Research  Labs or Industry or PSU as mentioned in above categories within 1 year of registration for Ph.D. with LPU, scholarship will be applicable (in the immediate next term).
  • If a candidate publishes research papers in Scopus or Web of Science Indexed Publication excluding ESCI (Emerging Source Citation Index) Journals within 1.5 years of registration in the Ph.D. Programme then he/she is eligible for the scholarship on that basis from the immediate next term.
  • Scholarship for Ph.D Programme is applicable for a maximum of upto 3.5 Years from the date of admission.
  • In case of any confusion, decision of Head, Centre for Research Degree Programmes will be considered final.
