Introduction<\/b><\/h2>\n

You have just started B.Tech CSE.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the first few days of college, you meet new classmates. Then you discover that someone already knows Python. Someone else has built a website. Another student has completed an online certification. Someone is already talking about AI, internships, hackathons, and placements.<\/span><\/p>\n

And suddenly, a thought appears:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAm I already behind?\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

This is one of the biggest traps that <\/span>first year CSE students<\/b> can fall into. This <\/span>comparison trap for students<\/b> can affect confidence even before they have properly settled into college.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a teacher, I have seen students become unnecessarily anxious because they compare their progress with classmates who started at a different level. What begins as harmless curiosity can slowly become <\/span>student self-doubt<\/b> and affect <\/span>student confidence<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The truth is simple:<\/span><\/p>\n

Your first year is not a competition to see who can learn the most things the fastest.<\/b><\/p>\n

It is the beginning of a four-year journey, and every student will start from a different point.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone Knows More Than Me\u201d<\/b><\/h2>\n

This is one of the most common thoughts among freshers.<\/span><\/p>\n

A student who has never programmed before may sit next to someone who has been coding since Class 9.<\/span><\/p>\n

During a programming class, the experienced student quickly solves a problem.<\/span><\/p>\n

The beginner struggles.<\/span><\/p>\n

What does the beginner think?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe I’m not good enough for CSE.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But let’s look at the situation differently.<\/span><\/p>\n

One student has several years of exposure.<\/span><\/p>\n

The other has just started.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course their starting points are different.<\/b><\/p>\n

Comparing them doesn’t tell us anything about where either student will be after four years.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is why <\/span>comparison among CSE students<\/b> can be misleading. Every student has different experiences, interests, and levels of exposure. <\/span>B.Tech CSE<\/a> students should focus on learning rather than constantly measuring themselves against their classmates.<\/span><\/p>\n

Social Media Makes the Problem Worse<\/b><\/h2>\n

Today’s students are constantly exposed to other people’s achievements.<\/span><\/p>\n

You open LinkedIn and see:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCompleted my first AI project!\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

Then:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cExcited to announce my internship!\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

Then:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSolved 500 coding problems!\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

And suddenly your own progress feels insignificant.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is <\/span>social media comparison<\/b>, and it can contribute to unnecessary <\/span>academic pressure<\/b>, <\/span>college stress<\/b>, and self-doubt.<\/span><\/p>\n

But there is something important to remember:<\/span><\/p>\n

Social media usually shows outcomes, not the entire journey.<\/b><\/p>\n

You don’t see:<\/span><\/p>\n
