NATA is an entrance exam required for all the Architectural Institutes in India (except NITs and IITs) and is a qualifying exam for admission to architectural courses. The National Aptitude Test (NATA) is conducted by the Council of Architecture. The Council was initiated in 2006 after receiving a request from various architecture schools across the country to conduct a research test for first year students of a five-year Bachelor of Architecture degree and college students. The main objective of the Council is to prevent unfortunate students from facing huge problems and incurring huge debts while applying for architectural courses and also to encourage various schools in different districts and states of India to apply for the exam on their own. This practice used to deprive students of the opportunity to apply for admission to the schools of their choice.
