Padma Bhushan Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard released his 9th Music Album at LPU Campus

Jalandhar: Padma Bhushan Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard, Editor-in Chief of Ajit Group of Publications released his 9th Music Album “Kusumbhra” amid the presence of elite gathering from all quarters of the society.  MP of Rajya Sabha & General Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal S Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa was the Chief-Guest at the ceremony; whereas, Minister of Local Government, Tourism, Cultural Affairs, Archives and Museums of the State of Punjab S Navjot Singh Sidhu was the guest of Honour. All 8 compositions of the Album ‘Kusumbhra’ are based on sufi-songs created by Baba Bulleh Shah- a legend in Sufism. This album is Dr Hamdard’s tribute to Bulleh Shah’s poetry which preaches simple concept of humanity, faith, thoughts and creed by which any individual can achieve a higher and more pure existence. The release-ceremony was organized at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium of Lovely Professional University, where LPU students depicted varying passions & moods of the album through captivating choreography. Extolling diverse endeavours of Dr Hamdard for humanity; S Dhindsa and S Sidhu acknowledged him as a true propagator of Punjab, Punjabiyat and its heritage in all forms and styles, and a powerful voice in media, music and many other societal fields.

Addressing the gathering, S Dhindsa said: “Dr Hamdard is a man of principles and he loves all people & parties alike. He has always upheld his principles, and never compromised against these. Be it any political party or faction, he is connected with all in similar manner.” Referring Dr Hamdard as a touchstone and an all-in-one personality, S Sidhu said: “Dr Hamdard is a true friend and mentor and his various musical creations will indeed lead youth of Punjab in upholding its culture and traditions not only in the state but world around. His ideology can provide right direction to the youth and, in turn, they can bring a revolutionary change. I uphold Punjab is the greatest brand in the world. I congratulate Dr Hamdard for glorifying the Punjab and its saints and singers since ages.” Addressing the LPU youth in his typical style, he asked students to adopt, follow and nurse their heritage and traditions.”

Thanking all present at the ceremony in utter humility, Dr Hamdard shared: “Music is my passion. I feel life palpitates only through music and it has been great fascination for me since my childhood. Although I was fond of singing right from my early school days, yet I could not carry on this fondness seriously due to multiple involvements in my life and works. However, I am blessed that music has never faded away from me in spite of my multifarious activities. I feel that this album is a tribute to Baba Bulle Shah and contribution to Punjab & Punjabiyat.”  

Prior to this, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal welcomed all at the album release ceremony and congratulated Dr Hamdard for his 9th music album. Mr Mittal also thanked him for selecting LPU campus in a row for the prestigious ceremony. Worth telling 7th and 8th music albums of Dr Hamdard were also released at LPU Campus by former CM Punjab S. Parkash Singh Badal and His Excellency Governor of Punjab VP Singh Badnore, respectively.

Prominent gathering from all quarters of the society who graced the occasion included Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh, former Lt Governor S Iqbal Singh, former Minister Daljeet Singh Cheema, DGP Suresh Arora, S Pargat Singh, Sh Sushil Rinku, Sh Som Parkash, S Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, S Tajinder Singh Bittu, Sh Irwin Khanna, S Prem Singh Advocate, Sh Gautam Kapoor, Sh Ramesh Mittal, Sh Naresh Mittal, Sh Ashok Mittal, Smt Rashmi Mittal and many other great personalities of important ranks and social status. Executive Editor of Daily Ajit Satnam Singh Manak briefed about the event, and also conducted the stage. Dr Cheema also shared about unparalleled qualities of Dr Hamdard. Always thoughtful about youth of the country, Minister Sidhu also met highly placed LPU students, during the ongoing current session, and blessed them to keep on bringing glory to the state and the country.

The eight songs included in this 9th album ‘Kusumbhra’ are: “Main Udeekan Kar Rahi; Is Nihun di Ulti Chaali; Vekho nee kee kar gya Mahi; Ishq dee naviyon navin bahar; Ajj pee ghar aaya; Main Kusumbhra chun chun haari; Ghungat chuk o sajjna; and, Thaiya Thaiya”. The music director of these songs is S Gurdeep Singh. The other eight albums of Dr Hamdard since 2003 are Jazbaat, Aahat, Sijda, Khushboo, Shrdhanjali, Meri Pasand Lok Geet and Aastha, which contain old songs, ghazals, patriotic fervour and other genres in sublime and transcendental voice of Dr Hamdard.

Embodying the subtle and complex narrative of human relationships, his creativity is instilled with brilliant imagination & facts, be it in his editorials, books, poems, songs or speeches.  Recognition of his luminous journalistic and creative works has decorated him with many awards and honours including prestigious ‘Padam Bhushan’ by the Government of India; ‘Shiromani Patarkar’ by Punjab Government; ‘Special Award’ by Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC); and, Honorary D. Lit by Punjabi University, Patiala.
