Jalandhar: It was indeed an exuberant experience at Lovely Professional University (LPU) campus, where engineering, sciences, pharmacy, management and other professional programmes’ LPU students were seen performing superbly for music, dance, theatre, literary and fine arts competitions. Occasion was annual two-day Inter School Cultural Fest ‘Spectra 2017’ to judge students’ inner art-passions and talents, where 3000+ LPU students performed for 50+ competitions. The mammoth fest also held 2 Kilometer long caravan where each and every department’s society impacting innovations were also portrayed.
LPU schedules event ‘Spectra’ every year to identify the talent, particularly, of new students. Winners and other talented students are further guided to share bigger national and even international level platforms, including AIU Nationals, Youth Vibe, One India, One World and more.
Other than participants, thousands of on-looking students also enjoyed unique cuisines at food stalls specially raised by different departments. Non-competitive performances like the street play, rock band shows, street dances and more were also chalked out to attract on looking students immensely. Competitions under music category were for classical vocal, instrumental (percussion/ non-percussion), folk group singing, Indian group & duet Singing, and western solo vocal. For dance, there were competitions for classical / semi classical, folk dances, international group dance, western free style, theme choreography, western group dance and rap-star. For theatrics, competitions were for skit, beat boxing, mimicry and mime. Competitions were also for spot painting, cartooning, photography, rangoli & doodling, poster making, collage making, single color painting, water color mixture, charcoal portrait, greeting card making etc. Literary competitions were for elocution, quiz, creative writing, debate, news reading and more.
Motivating all the participating students in ‘Spectra’ competitions, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal wished them to bring laurels to their respective schools and departments by continuing exhibiting the best of the talent. Mr Mittal said: “I personally feel that the event ‘Spectra’ at LPU is a fun filled competitive celebration. It is not only to entertain LPU students but also to enlighten & enhance their competitive spirit to excel in life.”
